The Pleasure Emporium (TPE) is an adult store that has been in operation since 2005. As a boutique operation offering adult novelty items, lubricants, enhancements, DVDs, and “The Labyrinth”, we exist to serve our local community as well as our visitors. TPE is proud to have over an 80% return rate of customers who frequent our store. The management and advisory team continue to vision and work to improve operations, product offerings, and services. 

TPE is seeking to hire a qualified individual for our part-time sales associate position.

Job Duties

Greet customers, determine what they are interested in, and work to close a sale. Suggestive sale based on products in store. Quickly work to establish a good rapport with customers so they feel comfortable, welcomed and want to return to the store. Maintain a welcome, safe, and professional environment at the store. Able to continually improve on the job and gain product knowledge. Use the point of sale system with high accuracy, understand basic technology troubleshooting, and be able to escalate issues to management as appropriate. Perform store housekeeping duties, such as cleaning the store per established guidelines. Due to the nature of the business, maintaining confidentiality is key to our operation. Actively enforce store policies that include, but are not limited to State and City and County of Honolulu One Oʻahu guidelines. Other duties as assigned.


Must be highly self-motivated, have excellent customer service skills, maintain good communication with coworkers and management, and a positive attitude. Have a good track record of being punctual and reliable. General understanding of the operation of an adult store, products and services offered, and able to work in a dynamic environment.  Must be able to operate a Point of Sale (POS) system, including a credit card terminal. Should have cash handling experience, including credit and debit cards. Experience with computers and tablets, such as Windows PCs, Macs and iPads. Must be able to follow detailed instructions, store policies, and help to communicate those with customers. 

Due to contact, close contact, and potential sustained contact with customers and other employees in close proximity where social distancing is not possible, all employees are required to be fully vaccinated according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC). Furthermore, TPE requires potential and active employees to remain fully compliant with CDC and store policy regarding COVID-19 vaccination, to include obtaining booster vaccinations at the proper interval. Management will actively seek current vaccination status from employees.
